Jimmy breaks into houses, Fred cracks cars and Merlin steals from restaurants. The three brawny baboon males are the thieving clan leaders of the notorious Schmidt Gang near Cape Town in South Africa. The monkeys plunder bags, are greedy omnivores and have lost respect for humans. Tourists and residents of Table Mountain are robbed and sometimes injured. Many of the last bear baboons in the Cape have become a real nuisance. With the help of a worldwide unique monkey police force, the Cape Town administration tries to keep the animals away from the settlements in a controlled way. Every day, sixty selected men drive the baboons back into the wild with screams, sticks and blank guns. The film investigates the causes of the animal's misshapen appearance. The camera is right there when the clever leaders of the ape gang go on breathtaking raids and cause chaos among tourists and restaurant guests. And it accompanies the monkey police in their difficult efforts to turn the greedy city monkeys into wild baboons again.
